I have been so busy with all kinds of things that this year’s RPG-a-Day flew completely under my radar. I was only reminded by a post from Paulo, and so here we are. I’ll just use this post to catch up in one go.
1 – Who would you like to introduce to RPGs?
I do not have a ‘wishlist’ of people I want to play RPGs. But when someone expresses an interest, then I will try to arrange something. When I was chatting with a new colleague and the subject came on what we do for fun outside of work, I showed her the book for The One Ring and she was interested. So now I’ll try to arrange a game for her and a few others — should be fun.
2 – What is a great introductory RPG?
One where play is not restricted by the rules. New players bring so much creativity to the table, which is a delight. But if the rules strongly restrict what can happen, they quickly learn to restrict themselves too.
So PbtA games are ideal, because they do not restrict what can happen in the fiction, and the rules only kick in under specific conditions. And D&D is one of the worst!
3 – When were you first introduced to RPGs?
I have already answered that in a question from three years ago.
